The town of Saharanpur is located in a district by the same name in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The town is an prominent tourist destination and is famous for its cottage industries including wood carving.
It is also famous for its agricultural produce such as mangos and basmati rice. The town boasts of a rich history and has, over the years, witnessed the rise and fall of several empires all of which have left an indelible mark on its fabric.
People flock to Saharanpur to see the age-old temples including Shakumbhari devi temple and Bala Sundari Temple of Deoband (Shakti Peethas). The Naugaja Peer is much favoured by the devotees who come here to get their wishes fulfilled.
Apart from the temples, Saharanpur also has several colonial buildings that have stood the test of time. The Botanical Gardens, established by the British East India Company in the city are also quite famous and serve as a centre for botanical research. You can also visit Ambedkar Park which provides the much needed relief from the chaos of the city.
