Rishikesh -The city of Yoga and Self awareness.The word Rishikesh is formed with two words -Rishi (Means muni/saint) and kesh means (Hair) literally named after hairs of saints because Hindu sages and saints have always visited Rishikesh for higher knowledge and to meditate. Rishikesh city its ancient significance in Indian history located at the foothills of Garhwal himalayas , a” Yoga capital” of the world and on the bank of Ganges (a holy river) . It is one of the holiest place for hindus and a gateway to sacred Chardham of Uttarakhand.
Rishikesh is located on the south of Uttarakhand and near to Haridwar and Dehradun(capital of Uttarakhand). Haridwar and Rishikesh are very close to each other with just 5 km to each other and Dehradun is about 45 km. Rishikesh is easily accessible from all the major cities.Ganges, Ashram, Temples makes this place a soul satisfying that one can spend a good soulful time.
Rishikesh has a scenic beauty with its blue and green water of Ganges with lush green mountains and sand beaches. ancient temples, remarkable architecture, different food cuisine and places for self awareness, meditate and yoga. Lakshman Jhula - A iron suspension bridge over the Ganges which connects north and south of Rishikesh. Lakshman Jhula is one of the famous landmark in Rishikesh and is dovated to Lord Lakshman.
Ganga Aarti- A pleasant ritual to worship Goddess Ganga. Aarti performed at Parmarth Niketan and Triveni Ghat has its own significance where devotee gathers in large numbers to worship between 6 PM to 7 PM every day. It is beautiful to see diyas floating in Ganges.
Ram Jhula - An iron suspension bridge which is about 450 ft in length. Devoted to Lord Rama was built in 1980 by Shivananda Aashram. Major attraction in Rishikesh where visited across world to see.
Parmarth Niketan - A top yoga center located at the bank of Ganges. Asharam also runs a school where students are taught about ancient vedas and script. Morning and evening Ganga aarti is performed every day at Parmarth Niketan.
Triveni Ghat - A ghat where one can take a holy dip in Ganges. Ganga Aarti is performed here every day where anyone participate. People can also avail boat ride which rides around Parmath Niketan to triveni Ghat at nominal fee.
Neelkanth Mahadev Temple - Located at an height of 1320 mt above sea level and about 32 km form Rishikesh. A holy temple where Lord shiva has consumed poison which was extracted during samudra manthan. A beautiful architecture depicts the war between lords and demons.
